GRAPHIC DESIGN
Magazine Design
The Process
To create my magazine, I first began to create a mood board for what I wanted the theme of it to be. I decided that I really liked the bright colors of the Y2K trend that was all the rage during this time and really tried to incorporate those types of fun colors and aesthetics into my magazine. I created the entire 24-page spread magazine using Adobe InDesign using a mix of photos I took and ones found online. I designed and created each spread myself.
Prior to creating Reverie, I had never designed a magazine. I knew when something was designed poorly, but I never knew the specifics of what made good design. The entire process of creating this magazine taught me the basics of what goes into good graphic design and the basics of how to use Adobe InDesign.
Because I chose to go with brighter colors and the modern Y2K trend, all of my spreads are reminiscent of things that are commonly associated now with the 2000s.

Infographic
The Process
For this infographic, I wanted to highlight how history influences what fashion trends we see in society with a specialized focus on the Black community's fashion throughout history beginning with the Harlem Renaissance and ending with the turn of the century into present day.
Throughout my research, I learned about the Zoot Suit, the Black dandy, the stark differences in how the Civil Rights and Black Power Movement despite their overlap, and how the rise of hip-hop influenced mainstream fashion today.

Adobe Photoshop
Before

The Process
In this Photoshop exercise, I had to work with filters, layer masks, and combining multiple images together into a final product. I learned how to use a clipping mask on the moon to make it appear as it was a half moon, as well as on the full size image of myself to remove the bottom part of my legs and I utilized the background removal tool and object selection tools to ensure a seamless blend in my final product.
For each photo element (the moon, full body image of myself, night sky background and grass landscape) I selected a different filter to add dimension to the overall image while also keeping a cohesive look.

After

The Process
In this exercise, I had to build on my Photoshop skills from the previous assignments above by using the crop, straighten, spot healing brush, and clone stamp tools to achieve the final results. This exercise taught me how to blend and retouch photos to make them appear to be brand new and also allowed me to explore the use of guides and layer management to create the effect of the ocean appearing on both sides of the image with the umbrellas.
Adobe Illustrator

The Process
In this Adobe Illustrator project, I edited and recreated logos from various brands. Each logo originally had a white background which I removed when applicable to create the designs seen.
This exercise showed me how to work with low resolution logos to make them higher resolution and how to taught me how to work with shapes, transparency, gradients, and color swatches to edit logos.

Adobe InDesign

The Process
To create this food truck menu, I used Adobe InDesign and used a template to ensure that things were placed in their correct and proper places. I also created color swatches, worked with different fonts, and placing images in frames to properly create this menu. I also worked with marks and bleeds for his project.

The Process
In the process of creating the photo book, I further worked with marks and bleeds, frame placement, text placement, placeholder text and working with gradients in this project. While this wasn't my first time working in InDesign to create spreads, I was unfamiliar with how the guides in InDesign worked which is what I had to use in order to properly place my image and text frames.
